MGS Plays Key Role in Approvals for Mercy University Athletic Fields on Dobbs Ferry Campus

White Plains NY –March 2024 – To improve safety for its athletes and spectators, Mercy University will renovate athletic fields on its Dobbs Ferry campus.

McCullough, Goldberger & Staudt LLP (MGS) successfully represented the university in its application to the Dobbs Ferry Board of Trustees and Planning Board to make improvements to its turf fields.

The University plans to replace two baseball dugouts with more permanent structures, as well as replace its scoreboard and add new protective netting along the infield to protect spectators from foul balls. The new dugouts will be modular and replace the existing ones which consist of tenting over bleachers.

To make the games more enjoyable for spectators and reduce any noise to the surrounding area, the University also plans to upgrade its existing sound system with a permanent state of the art system and replace its old scoreboard with a modern, digital freestanding scoreboard that will be more visible to spectators and athletes. It also plans to add a digital sign outside the field to announce upcoming events.

“Mercy’s student athletes deserve to play on modern fields and their spectators deserve an improved experience,’’ said MGS Managing Partner Seth Mandelbaum. “This will be a positive addition to the campus, and we are happy to have assisted the University in making these improvements a reality.’’

“Upgrading our facilities is an important part of what makes our campus experience exceptional for our students and the greater community”, said Thomas Simmonds, Mercy University’s Vice President for Operations and Facilities.
